Oil Painting That Turns Heads - Day 49

Oil Painting For Creative Outlet

When it comes to oil painting, I am a total newbie but the rest of my family is not. The image you see above here was painted by my mother-in-law. She is a talent beyond belief.

My daughter also paints with oils but I have noticed lately that she has combined both acrylics and oils. She is always experimenting! I love seeing the results.

Get Started Oil Painting Today

You do not have to buy expensive oil paints to try out your skills but you should either take lessons or find a couple of good resources to help you get started.
These resources are from Amazon:

Painting for the Absolute and Utter Beginner

Oil Painting Step-by-Step

It is always best to find a great course locally through a community center or local studio. These resources will also help you along the way!

Great Tutorials

I always love to search YouTube for great courses and tutorials as well. The videos I picked from the vast sea of tutorials are popular and have great reviews. Watch them and pick up some great oil painting knowledge.

Last Word

Time to break out the oils! My tutor is going to be my daughter and I can hardly wait to get started. I did oil painting in the past with a portrait of my brother with the encouragement of my mother who was an oil painting artist. My mother sold her paintings to make a living so I guess our family comes by it naturally.

I recently found out that my grandmother was also an artist (I was too young to realize it at the time). It does not mean the talent hit me but I am certainly pumped and want to give it another try.

Until tomorrow...
