Finger Knitting FUN for Kids and Adults - Day 50

What is Finger Knitting You Ask

Finger knitting is just that - a way to knit with your fingers without using needles. It is a fun way to entertain kids and adults alike. You can use 2 fingers or 4 fingers in order to knit some great accessories and if you are really ambitious you can also knit a blanket!

Today, I did 2 samples of finger knitting use a fluffy skein of wool I had left over from another project. It did not take very long at all to start seeing results. The size of your fingers really makes a difference in the size of your stitches. It is like having very large knitting needles at your disposal.

Projects You Can Make

If you are concerned about what you can make, don't be. Finger knitting projects are simple and easy to put together. Here are some ideas you can use to make special gifts and more.
  • Scarf
  • Headband
  • Booties
  • Octopus
  • Basket

Book Resources I recommend

This first book Knitting Without Needles is perfect for the beginner - the author even has a video to match the book. It is her video that helped me to learn how to finger knit. Look in the video section of this article for the video.

Taking your skill to the next level, you will enjoy making a few minions!

This final video gives simple and clear instructions on how to make a Bear Beanie Hat. You will really enjoy working on this one.

 Last Word

My project was not so ambitious, I just wanted to be able to make something simple. Here are my two test strips! This is so much fun, I can hardly wait to try it with the rest of the family. The top part of the image is a four finger knit and the bottom one a two finger knit (I know they look like worms). Have fun with this!
